The Exorcist Episode 8

And we find the children…

Waiting at the neighbors house waiting for word on Andy. When Rose comes in she lets them know they are leaving the island in the morning. Everyone but Verity is hopeful that they will be reunited, but Verity makes it clear they won’t be. Rose reaffirms upsetting all the kids.

This is the first time we see Shelby lose the faith he had. We are seeing these kids who believed they had a forever home – slowly start to accept that they don’t anymore.

And how did Marcus know Mouse?

We find out that Marcus and Mouse knew each other back in 1999. Against orders, Mouse went and tried to help with a possession – only to end up getting possessed herself. Marcus would try to help her, but ultimately would leave… leaving her in the hands of another priest who finishes the exorcism.

Back on the island

Andy’s exorcism isn’t going well and they call in Verity to help reach him. This was a remarkable performance by Brianna Hildebrand. She brought everything to the scene and it worked. Verity not only got through to Andy for a moment, but she made a mark on the priests as well.

As the episode closes

We see Marcus lay down for a nap since the demon was finding a way to break him. We then turn to Marcus going upstairs and telling Tomas that he is no longer in training, but a full fledged exorcist. They start praying together.

The lights go out at the ferry station where all the kids except Verity are waiting. We then are taken back to Andy’s house, where we see Marcus still asleep and when the get upstairs we see Tomas sitting in a corner, his eyes red, and still asking different saints to prey for them. We also see an empty bed where Andy used to be lying down.

Verity has gone back for a book she left at the neighbors with Rose and everything was going fine until she goes to the dining room and finds them dead at their kitchen table. We hear Rose saying “run” but the real shocker comes when she is brought in by Andy himself. “Hey kiddo” is Andy’s first words to Verity and the last words we hear in the episode.

Will they find a way to save the kids and Tomas? We will hopefully find out this Friday when Episode 9: Ritual and Repetition airs.
