Downton Abbey Returns!

Fans of Downton Abbey rejoice! Our favourite aristocrats are back! (note the use of the Queen’s English for flavor there)

Downton Abbey is jumping on the revival train in the form of a movie! Creator Julian Fellowes will write the script and the original series cast will return. With plot details kept under wraps, fans believe the movie will likely pick up where the series finale left off – 1926.

The original television show, which aired for 6 seasons, followed the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their servants. It launched stars such as Dan Stevens and Michelle Dockery to international fame and introduced the legendary Dame Maggie Smith to a younger audience. During its run, Downton Abbey won 12 Prime-time Emmy Awards out of 54 nominations and 3 Golden Globe Awards out of 10 nominations. Downton holds the Guinness World Record for being the most critically acclaimed English-language television series of 2011.

Production of the film starts this summer, with the theatrical release date yet to be announced. If it has even half the drama, heartbreak, and joy of the original series, the movie is going to be a smash!!

If you’ve never seen Downton Abbey, the time has never been better to start binge-watching! Already a fan of Downton Abbey? It’s still time for you to start binge watching, too! After all, one can never watch this show too much!
