Roll up your shirt sleeves for a new season of Bosch.

Amazon Prime original series Bosch returns for season 5 on April 19th. The source material for this round of Bosch is Michael Connelly’s best selling novel Two Kinds of Truth.

The trailer shows Detective Harry Bosch going undercover with a knee brace, cane, and unkempt hair. It’s definitely a new look for our Harry who typically sports a clean look with slacks and rolled-up shirt sleeves.

There is no doubt that Harry is still figuratively “rolling up his shirt sleeves” this season as he willingly puts himself in harms way to uncover crimes of abuse and manipulation. Harry must balance his quest for justice with his obligations as the only surviving parent of daughter Maddie.

There is much to digest.

Harry’s undercover mission is one of many stories being told this season. The Everybody Counts Podcast recently interviewed actor DaJuan Johnson (who plays Detective Rondell Pierce) for a few words to tease the new season. He responded with two words – “a lot” – because there is indeed so much going on this season.

Bosch has traditionally juggled multiple story lines with finesse. This season raises the bar even higher as it delves into personal relationships, working relationships, and the delicate balance of law and order all while tirelessly investigating homicides. There is so much to digest.

Bosch season 5 has the grandeur of a feature film.

Of course, the city of Los Angeles maintains her role as a featured player in the storytelling on Bosch. It makes for stunning cinematography as well as a grittiness that keeps the story grounded in reality. Viewers can also look forward to intriguing new characters and a deeper dive into the ones we have already come to love.

I had the pleasure of screening Bosch season 5 episode one on the “big screen” at SCAD aTVfest in Atlanta earlier this year. The magnitude of both the narrative and the acting performances was likened to a feature film and completely worthy of the theater screen format.

Buckle up and get ready for another thrilling ride along with Bosch on Amazon Prime. The new season becomes available on April 19th.
