Pieces of the puzzle come together in Bosch: Legacy season 2 episode 8 but at what cost?
Bosch: Legacy S2E8 ‘Seventy-Four Degrees in Belize’

“Deuces are wild”
Just as Harry and Mo finish talking about one of Vin Scully’s signature phrases, they get rammed by Ellis’ Dodge Charger forcing them over hill. Mo’s car rotates multiple times before landing at the bottom with Harry and Mo unresponsive.
Ellis and Long exit their vehicle to look over the edge and view the damage. Eventually, Mo and Harry must come to as we next see them at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. Harry is walking around on his own but is bruised and battered. We learn that Mo suffered a concussion and is in bed with stitches on his forehead.
Sit for a bit
Harry and Mo revisit their memory of the vehicular attack. Mo remembers the loud engine, absence of headlights and a flash of silver in the rear-view mirror. They assume the plan was for them not to make it out alive.
Mo tries to convince Harry that his electric vehicle kept them from burning up in a ball of fire because his car does not have a gas tank. Harry teases Mo saying that’s just something you see in movies. Bosch decides to stick around for a while and sit with Mo.
Once arriving home, Harry removes the tracker from beneath his car and runs over it.
Business as usual
Ellis and Long are unaware the Mo and Harry survived the crash. They visit Ashley and Annie, the two escorts that work for them. Ellis gives them their payout. Ashley thinks the envelopes feel short and Ellis tells them they need to work more to earn more. Ashley has a victim already lined up for that evening. Annie and Ellis spar verbally before Ellis leaves the room.
Nguyen DVD
Honey and Harry review the DVD recovered from the safe at Wanna Buy A Watch. We see Ellis and Long negotiating the price for stolen jewelry taken from their extortion victims.
It is clear that the Nguyens were saving this as evidence if things went wrong. Unfortunately, they did not anticipate a scenario where going wrong meant being murdered. They also recall that Allen’s date heard a loud engine from the car outside the motel the night Allen disappeared.
Harry accesses the car
Harry arrives at the city garage where Ellis’ car is being repaired after the crash. He presents himself as Ellis’ partner saying he needs to access the car to retrieve his daughter’s birthday present. The mechanic buys the ruse and hands the keys over to Bosch.
Bosch snaps photos of the vehicle damage and then rifles through the glove compartment and trunk. He finds a receipt for O’Malley Maid Service and sees a crowbar, umbrella and other items in the trunk.
Long receives a call notifying him that Bosch and Mo survived the crash. He pretends to be relieved before hanging up the phone and reporting the news to Ellis.
Meanwhile, Honey pays another visit to Oscar, the security guard at Hollywood Forever Cemetery. She requests additional video footage from the Paramount water tower. She gives Oscar the dates needed and some cash to grease the deal. Honey leaves quickly after receiving an upsetting phone call.
David is assaulted
Honey arrives at the prison to visit David who is in the medical ward. He has been beaten up by several inmates and deputies during transport to a new cell. He reminds Honey that everyone believes he murdered the wife of a law enforcement officer. Honey pledges to take care of his security.
Chandler meets with the prosecution and Judge Newland. Newland offers protective custody in prison for David through the completion of the trial. The prosecution does not object.
FBI surprises Maddie
The FBI shows up to Hollywood Station and approaches Maddie while she is talking with Vasquez in the parking lot. Mank acts as Maddie’s representative. She is blindsided by the FBI’s inquiry. Agents James and Jones ask her what she was doing the day that Rogers was acquitted as well as the date corresponding to the pipeline being blown up.
They scare her with the suggestion that Harry was involved in the pipeline event, calling it domestic terrorism. Maddie does not recall her whereabouts on August 25th and legitimately knows nothing about a pipeline being damaged. She advises them that she has nothing else to say.
What the heck, Dad?
Harry is at home reviewing crime scene photos of Lexi Parks when he receives a call from Maddie. She wants to know what is going on. Why are the Feds questioning her about his involvement with Carl Rogers’ murder?
Father and daughter meet up near the station. Maddie is shocked to see how much Harry was banged up by his “fender bender”. She asks about the pipeline explosion. Bosch explains that he cannot involve her for her own safety. Maddie leaves frustrated with the lack of information.
Meanwhile, Ellis receives a call from the garage mechanic about his car. Ellis assumes the car is ready. But the mechanic reports that his “partner” (aka Bosch) failed to return the keys after retrieving the gift from the car. Ellis is very nervous about Harry getting so close.
Jade stops by
Jade stops by to check on Mo. She brings green tea to help with the swelling. She spies video footage on his monitor and asks if he is doing more work for the guy that almost got him killed.
Mo explains that he is just trying to extract information from the video, a harmless task. When Jade asks if this investigator is doing work legitimately, Mo shares that there is some grey area. He also reminds Jade that she seems to embrace the grey.
Evidence review
Harry and Honey learn from Mo that it was indeed Ellis’ Dodge Charger that exited the hotel the night James Allen went missing. They have compiled timeline of events pointing to Ellis and Long as the possible killers.
They note the watch needing repair and Lexi learning that the watch may have been stolen property. She threatens an investigation into the Nguyens’ buying practices. The illegal side hustles of Ellis and Long would be threatened by such an investigation. Honey and Harry presume that Ellis and Long murdered Lexi and then framed Foster for it. They also presume that Ellis and Long murdered James Allen, effectively taking his alibi off the board.
The DNA evidence is still the clincher, but they hope that the condom trace evidence analysis will reveal a transplant of DNA to Lexi’s body.
Harry then turns up the volume of the music playing. He takes Honey outside and informs her that Maddie was contacted by the FBI. Harry is not happy that Maddie’s job could be impacted. Honey assures him that will not happen and that he really needs to have faith in Honey.
Mo on stakeout
Mo sits outside the apartment of escorts Ashley and Annie having found the address on the maid service invoice that Harry found in the Charger. He takes photos of the two ladies.
Meanwhile, Ellis and Long sit at a bar saying, “Everything must go.” Does everything include everyONE? Ellis and Long are very much on edge. Ellis even talks about escaping to Belize.
Bosch places a fake call to Ellis’ and Long’s colleague to find out where they are. He is told that they are in Long Beach for the day. Then Bosch heads to Dr. Schubert’s house and rings the doorbell.
Surprise guests
Bosch knocks on Dr. Schubert’s door and tells him he is investigating a murder. He obtains Schubert’s permission to record their discussion. Schubert reveals that he was caught sleeping with a patient and her roommate, presumably Ashley and Annie. Ellis and Long threatened to share the video footage of Schubert’s indiscretion with his wife, colleagues and the ethics board.
Ells and Long demanded $100,000 initially and $10,000 more each month. Schubert said he has been making home visits to get extra money to pay them.
Schubert sees Ellis and Long on his security camera feed. Bosch quickly poses as Schubert calling 911 to report armed intruders. He shuffles Schubert upstairs as Ellis and Long enter with guns drawn.
Man down, man dead, man missing
Instead of listening to Bosch, Schubert decides to come out with his arms up and pleads with Long for mercy telling him Bosch tricked him into believing he was the police. Long plays along saying it will be fine and then proceeds to shoot and kill Dr. Schubert.
Bosch shoots Long who lands at the bottom of the stairs. Bosch goes after Ellis, but Ellis gets away. Now Long is pleading for his life telling Harry that he needs an ambulance. Harry tells him he believes Long is not going to make it. Harry demands to know where Ellis went. Long refuses to cooperate and calls Bosch a snitch.
Harry exits the front door with his arms up as the Sheriff’s department has arrived at the property.
Meeting with Duran and Santana
Honey and Harry meet with Detectives Duran and Santana about the recording Bosch obtained from Schubert. The detectives refuse to accept its legitimacy suggesting Bosch may have coerced Schubert with a gun held on him. Since Schubert is dead, they cannot confirm otherwise.
Bosch is disgusted with the detectives for refusing help with identifying the real killers. Duran and Santana keep Harry’s gun. Outside, Harry asks about housing escorts Ashley and Annie at Honey’s safehouse. Honey agrees knowing they may be able to testify.
That evening
Later that evening, Maddie visits Harry at his office. He reports that Ellis is still missing and Long is in critical condition.
Maddie wants to know if Bosch would ever lie to her. He assures her that he would not lie but that he cannot always tell her everything. Maddie talks about hoping she never has to experience shooting someone like that. She also reveals that she worked with Ellis earlier in the week. She realizes now he was using her to get information. Bosch is livid about Ellis manipulating her.
FBI shifts gears
With the grand jury not working out, Baron is happy to report to Agents Long and Jones that the Assistant US Attorney has agreed with them doing a search warrant for Bosch’s home, Honey’s home and her office.
Coltrane barks waking Harry from the couch. The FBI has arrived with the warrant. Harry sits outside as they rifle through his home. They do not find anything, however.
The Feds also search Honey’s office. This is very upsetting to Martin who has his firm’s reputation at stake. Honey apologizes to Martin. When the FBI does not find any files on Carl Rogers, they speculate that she has destroyed them.
An arrest
Later, an agent reports findings on an audio recording. It is Honey asking Carl Rogers about the call he just had with Aslan where he told him about the pipeline being blown up. The Feds agree that Honey knew about the plans for the pipeline based on the recording. They arrest her at her home that evening. The media awaits them as Honey is brought out in handcuffs. Baron whispers to Honey that they, too, can leak a story, referring to the media showing up in reference to the subpoena that mysteriously surfaced earlier.
Things are not looking good for Honey. Where is Ellis? Is he still a threat or long gone?
