Black Lightning Episode 7
Where does revenge and hate get you? Usually it ends up backfiring on the person seeking it. After this episode nothing will be the same for anyone – Let’s find out why.
The Pierce Family
The fallout from Jefferson and Lynn finding out about Anissa came to head. Jefferson and Lynn forbade Anissa to go out and be a superhero.
After telling her mother she doesn’t understand what she’s going through because she doesn’t have powers, she checks on David Poe where she finds out he was killed by a hit and run driver while riding his bike to work.
Anissa heads home distraught and tells her dad what happened leading to a father and daughter moment.
Lynn calls Anissa in for a talk and tells her that she wants her to do what she wants since she is going to anyway, but to be careful. Gambi also lets her know he is making a suit for her. I just hope Jefferson’s distrust of Gambi, though warranted, doesn’t keep Anissa from getting a suit that could save her life in the field.
At the end, after Jefferson accidentally kills Tori, he tells her that he wants to train her. The episode ends with Jefferson receiving a call saying he went to far and then see’s on the news that Black Lightning is the number one suspect for the death of Lady Eve’s death.
I enjoyed that Anissa, even though set on becoming a hero like her dad, had the courage to pick up and contact Grace. I hope she comes back soon because I would love to see this romance blossom into something awesome.
I am hoping that we see Jennifer start getting her powers soon. Lynn is also starting to become an integral part of the show, not just the one complaining all the time.
Gambi
Has once again made his allegiance come into question when he met with Lady Eve and killed Joey Toledo for her. I think that the tension between Jefferson and Gambi is interesting because you know they care for each other. I can’t wait until next week when Gambi supposedly tells Jefferson the truth. I just hope they find a way to solve this conflict as I think Gambi is Jefferson’s anchor just like Alfred is to Batman.
The Whale Siblings
Tobias and Tori hired professional hit men to go after Lady Eve after she had Joey killed. They orchestrated it so they used guns mimicking the lightning power used by Black Lightning, framing him for her murder
I know a lot of people probably didn’t care if Tobias’s sister died, but I feel bad for him because she was the only one who truly loved him.
I have a feeling that this is going to become bigger than it already is because Tobias will be on a warpath.
Also, I can’t wait to find out more about what Tobias hasn’t aged.
The Final Moments
In the final moments we had a definite “WTF moment” when a supposedly dead LaLa wakes up and a just-as-dead Lawanda enters the room… Then disappearing in smoke and becoming a tattoo on his chest. I can’t wait to see where this goes.
Final Thoughts
All in all, another great episode. The only thing I don’t like is that they killed two of their most powerful women in one episode. I feel like they could’ve spaced it out or maybe not have killed Tori. Hopefully the reason they did it leads us to an intriguing storyline with Tobias and how he will take the grief of losing his only family.
